Twin captain’s bed, birch wood, polar white
Exactly what I wanted. Well-built, hardwood construction, simple modern design, large usable drawers. I’d spent years looking for something similar in the Washington area, including at upper-end furniture retailers, and had no luck. So returned to Gothic which I knew from my days in NY. Delivery (from NY to DC and into my house) was perfect (not sure why the website seems to reflect so many complaints). Paid an extra fee to get the top surface (beneath the mattress) painted white as well - well worth it. Between the various upgrades and the shipping cost, this wasn’t a cheap option but the resulting bed is solid and looks great - and provides usable storage space for a small room. I couldn’t be happier. Thanks Gothic.

Sturdy bed at good price
I ordered 2 twin captain's beds in birch for my twin 4-year-old sons who had outgrown their toddler beds. I was looking for 4 primary qualities: (1) solid wood construction; (2) storage; (3) small footprint, so that we could fit two beds in a medium-sized room; and (4) a reasonable price (especially since we were buying two). These beds fit the bill perfectly. They feel very solid and look beautiful in the room, and the three drawers are both spacious and sturdy, and they open and close smoothly. The twins are thrilled with their beds and especially with their own personal storage areas. It's difficult to find a solid wood twin bed (versus laminate) at a price this low. I am very happy with the product.
My sole complaint is the fact that the only shipping option offered for this product is "curbside delivery" - meaning that the delivery drivers simply dump the beds on pallets in your front yard (or possibly in your garage, though in our case the garage would have meant the beds were much further from the appropriate bedroom). These beds are quite heavy -- they arrive fully assembled, and require two strong adults to move them. They had to sit in our front yard for a few hours before I could find someone to help move them up the stairs (fortunately it was a sunny day). I would have appreciated the option to pay for a delivery service that would bring the beds to the appropriate indoor room rather than dropping them on the front lawn. Other than the delivery hassle, I'm pleased with this purchase.
